it's like you never left

Well my trip home to MA for the Holidays was wonderful. It is funny how when you go back home or to a place you haven't been to in a while it somehow feels as though you never left. It went by way too fast though. Before I stepped off the plane I already had my entire trip scheduled to visit with family, friends, play a show, and to also try to stop by all my favorite places.

I was also nervous about the cold weather...especially since I am officially a CA wuss and have become quite accustomed to the perfect climate here. Sadly it didn't snow while I was in MA :( There was some on the ground however so I guess that counts for something.

My friend Kelly picked me up at the airport in Boston and we went right over to Harvard Square to do some christmas shopping. It was incredibly freesing that night and I had to buy pair of gloves at the first store I saw. Boston in December is quite beautiful, so it was a perfect place to get all warm and fuzzy about being back on the East coast. Back in California it never feels like Christmas or Thanksgiving, or Halloween for that matter. I love the Fall and all the holidays during the season so it is completely odd to experience them out here. Only a few people put out lights, there are absolutely no x-mas songs played on the radio. The only place you feel it sadly is at the mall. It is funny how Starbucks will be all wintered out with snowflakes on their red to-go cups and the staff is wearing santa caps and then you leave the mall to walk right into 70 degree weather.

SO anyway...while I was home I spent some time at Panera Bread. MAN I MISS that place. Yummy huge salads & chicken noodle soup - and now they have free internet. This was key because I am sad to admit that my Mom still uses dial up. I am completely computer spoiled so I definitely had a hard time with that. So I became one of those girls at the coffee shop sipping on her latte in a big comfy chair by the fireplace on my powerbook.

As you all are well aware, the malls are completely mad the week before Christmas so that was a not so fun experience. I say do it all online - seriously! what a blessing that is.

OK I am rambling..lets move on. Oh! I must note that my two puppies (Tyler & Tiffany) who have not seen me for sometime were so excited when I came home that they proceeded to pee on my leg and all over the kitchen floor with excitement...so cute! but so NOT at the same time.

The Java Hut was wonderful. It felt amazing to see so many old and new faces. There is something about playing a show for the people who were there for you when it all began - it just makes you feel warm inside. After dealing with the typical, not so good coffee shop sound system we got rolling. We played for about an hour and a half and there wasn't a seat left in the house. Thank you guys! I even had some fans drive from PA to come to the show, how sweet (Travis you rock!)

The holidays themsleves went so damn fast that my memories are a bit blurry. But I do rememebr yummy food, wine and great conversation with everyone I love - and it made it all worth it. I know...cheese, but come on.

I must say though, it's funny how it can feel like no time has passed even though reality shows it has been an entire year since I have been back in that place, the one which you will forever call Home. I do miss it but the truth is I can't imagine not living in San Diego right now - it just feels right at this stage in my life. BUT I will be back on the East to tour a bit after the new CD is out. YEY! I can't wait.

Thanks again for all the love and support- from the East Coast through to the West :)

love me.
