I find it interesting how people seem to struggle with writing happy love songs; I know I do. For some reason we can release the most powerful and heartfelt lyrics most often when we are at our lowest and truly hurting from something. I look back and recount the lyrics of "Broken", "A Noble Prince" , "Far Away" [and others] and I realize they were reflections on different types of "relationships" I had experienced and the downfalls that paired with them.
So recently I took a stab at a more uplifting song that tells the story of a happy one. Not that there wasn't happiness somewhere tucked in these other relationships or songs - but this time it seems I have captured a blissful moment when I was in the midst of experiencing it. Not sure if it is a keeper yet and I have played it live a few times but here are the words. Hope you enjoy.

No Place - March 2006
It's a feeling we cannot speak
It's a moment worth capturing
Time stops, for once you can see clearly
That there's no place you'd rather be
No words to speak, just the air we breathe
And there's no place I'd rather be
A fairytale we only dream of
We find in books, on the screen, and the stars above
We're lying here and I'm feeling you, feeling me
And there's no place I'd rather be
No words to speak, just the air we breathe
And there's no place I'd rather be
So all you dreamers love hard and carelessly
Cuz your busted hearts and broken dreams will mend
This story is proof that you can
No words to speak, just the air we breathe
And there's no place I'd rather be
No place I'd rather be

Lyrics to "Home (stickin' around)"
Hey guys, some people asked for lyrics to this song so I wanted to post them. I am going to attempt to get all my song lyrics listed up here at some point. To Read only lyric journal entries just go to the archive listing on the right hand side and click on the heading "lyrics" to view them.
Home (stickn' around): September 2004
I'm sitting here on the carpet floor
Thinkin' about the things that I don't have
I miss my guitar, my shoes and my favorite bra
These bastards screwed us real bad
And I'm thinkin' about this wild new place
And I' thinkin' about showing them my face
New place, new face
The sun shinning dowm
Thinkin' about
These times, these rhymes
I want 'em so bad
Will you want me here?
Cuz I plan on Stickin' Around
I've been wearing these clothes for days now
Another dirty girl in this beach town
And I miss sleeping in my own bed
So can you please bring my stuff now?
And I'm thinkn' about what means the most
And I'm thinkn' about driving back down the coast
New place, new face
The sun shinning dowm
Thinkin' about
These times, these rhymes
I want 'em so bad
Will you want me here?
Cuz I plan on Stickin' Around
Even though the stop signs are getting way out of hand
And to park your car you just don't stand a chance
But half price sushi on every block
Margaritas and Mexican sure hits the spot
The beach all day and the sunset going down
Damn I think I like this new town
And I'm thinkn' about how I'll make the most
I'm just another girl from the East coast
New place, new face
The sun shinning dowm
Thinkin' about
These times, these rhymes
I want 'em so bad
Will you want me here?
Cuz I plan on Stickin' Around
